The Art and Craft of Saving the World Symposium.

~ Jason deCaires Taylor will be a guest speaker at the The Art and Craft of Saving the World. A symposium held at the Southbank Centre, The Front Room at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Friday 13th June 10-3pm. (see picture).

~The Alluvia installation has been placed underwater along the river Stour, Canterbury, Kent. (See underwater gallery page 5). The works constructed from recycled glass and cement are internally illuminated at night. As the surface tension and volume of water changes through the seasons, and the effects of light alter through the day, so what is seen of the sculptures will change. This constant fluctuation is intended to stimulate dialogue, to challenge the concept of memory, and question how images and ideas are constructed from fragments of information presented to us. It is also hoped that the work will encourage viewers to return to the site and evaluate the altering experiences.

~ Daily Telegraph runs a competition "Where in the world is this" Readers have to name the location of a series of Jason deCaires sculptures.

~ Ukula arts magazine runs a water themed edition. The Grenada sculptures are featured "A Gallery thats on a different Level", alongside artists such as Bill Viola, Adam Philips and Steven Hall.

~ Jason is seeking volunteers to be life-casted for his projects. If you are interested in being represented in the form of a underwater statue and can travel to London. Please write to info@underwatersculpture.com
